Rep. Cynthia McKinney assaults Capitol cop

Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) punched a U.S. Capitol Police officer today after he mistakenly pursued her for failing to pass through a metal detector.
Members are not required to pass through metal detectors and the officer, manning a position at Longworth House Office Building, apparently did not recognize McKinney and didn’t see her Member pin.
The officer called out “Ma’am, Ma’am,” in an attempt to stop her.
When the officer caught up to McKinney, he grabbed her by the arm.
McKinney pulled her arm away, swung around, cell phone in hand, and punched the officer square in the chest, according to the witness.

I have read a few articles reporting this incident and the description goes from McKinney “slapping” or “pushing” to “punching” an officer, as reported above. All reports claim that their description is according to an eyewitness. Were these different eyewitness accounts or are the descriptors the varying perceptions of the reporter? Also, one has to weigh the credibility of the publication, i.e., a “right wing” publication will take negative slant when covering a Democrat just as the Left will take when covering the GOP. You cant take either report to be objective or fair and balanced, its politics. If we look at the facts and all the reports in totality, isnt it just as possible that Congresswoman McKinney didnt hear (accounts say she was on the phone)or if she heard the officer , she wasnt aware that he was calling to her. Why would she, as a multi term congress woman she had directly entered the building for years. If that is the case, isnt it just as likely that when she felt a stranger forcibly grab her arm that her immediate reaction was to pull free, turn and push away her perceived attacker. Politicians are frequently the object of assault and assasination attempts. Reports all confirm that the contact was square in the chest - just where you would apply pressure to push someone away. Generally, intentional slaps or punches are directed at the head and shoulders. I dont know what happened, but I do know that the media in general cares more about ratings than objectivity.
