Here's a thought: cut off the money
Sen. Sam Brownback says passage of an anti-surge resolution will not embolden the enemy in Iraq:[pP]>keygen HT burn
I don’t — I don’t see this enemy as needing any more emboldening or getting it from any resolution. They’re emboldened now.
Of this, Instaputz writes:[pP]>keygen HT burn
… I see that Sam Brownback (R-KS) says all of this “emboldening” talk is silly. It’s worse than silly, actually. It’s un-American.
Can the Bushbots explain how a responsible patriot is supposed to exercise their conscience and freedom of speech and object to a given military action? The “once the boots are on the ground” fallacy just seems like a cowardly way to silence critics.
I can’t speak for all Bushbots, but here’s my answer to that question.[pP]>keygen HT burn
All who oppose the surge or the war or both should ask — no, demand — that their representatives in Congress end funding for the troops in Iraq and get their boots off the ground.[pP]>keygen HT burn
Why pay to have our men and women in Iraq if you say they shouldn’t be there?[pP]>keygen HT burn
That’s what a responsible patriot would do. All the rest is political posturing or moral preening. I for one do not wish to silence critics of the war. To the contrary, I wish for them to speak up and honor the implications of their own putative convictions. [pP]>keygen HT burn
Even if an anti-surge resolution does not embolden our enemies, it will hardly do anything to discourage them either — and it may well depress the morale of our own soldiers. To leave American troops in harm’s way while undercutting them at home is immoral. Why pay to have our men and women in Iraq if you say they shouldn’t be there?[pP]>keygen HT burn
Isn’t it clear to everyone that these anti-surge resolutions have nothing to do with operations in Iraq and everything to do with our domestic politics? Congressional Democrats, and a handful of anti-war Republicans, are gaming the 2008 elections. The war in Iraq is unpopular, yes. But cutting off money for the troops might also prove unpopular. So our politicians seek ways to express opposition to the war while avoiding accountability for their role in facilitating it.[pP]>keygen HT burn
We live in times that require titans. But we led by mice.[pP]>keygen HT burn
